Code of Conduct

NANTUCKET STUDENT LACROSSE CODE OF CONDUCT

Nantucket Student Lacrosse abides by a strict Code of Conduct governing all coaches, players, officials and parents. The purpose of the Code is to ensure that those people associated with the program treat each other with dignity and respect.

The Code of Conduct is a condition of membership for all players, parents, coaches and officials. All members of Nantucket Student Lacrosse agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and to be subjected to the consequences of violating the Code. It is understood that by enrolling in the Nantucket Student Lacrosse program that players, parents and coaches are all bound by the Code and its validity is hereby a matter of record and is not dependent upon physical signature.

All enforcement decisions made by the officers of Nantucket Student Lacrosse are final and are not subject to review. No refunds will be granted to those players dismissed from the Nantucket Student Lacrosse program for a violation of the Code of Conduct.

Parents-

  • Teach and practice good sportsmanship at all games and practices. Be good role models!

  • Know the rules of the game of lacrosse.

  • Respect the officials. Respect the coaches. Support both positively.

  • Do not ever criticize other players regardless of the circumstances.

  • Follow the “24 Hour Rule”. If you have a complaint, speak with the coach on the day following any incident.

  • If there is a serious problem contact the Boys or Girls Program Director of the President of Nantucket Student Lacrosse.

  • Emphasize the FUN of the game, the Team over the individual, putting forth maximum effort at all times- not wins vs. losses.

Players-

  • Respect your teammates, coaches, referees and opponents at all times.

  • Give 100% effort at all practices and games.

  • Know the rules of the game of lacrosse and abide by them.

  • Support and encourage your teammates. Set a positive example.

  • Wear the required equipment and jerseys at all practices & games and keep your equipment well maintained.

  • Display good sportsmanship at all times- on and off the field.

  • Don’t be afraid of making mistakes: it’s all part of learning.

  • Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.

Coaches- 

  • A coach is a role model who must act with the highest moral character possible.

  • Coaches must reinforce the image of each player. A coach must be positive and constructive.

  • Respect the game of lacrosse. Respect the officials.

  • Teach the rules of lacrosse. Abide by those rules in practices and games.

  • Establish objectives for the team and players and inform them of team and individual goals.

  • Teach and practice good sportsmanship at all games and practices.

  • Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.

All- 

  • Any conduct including abusive language and/ or gestures, racially insensitive remarks, damage to property or belongings, or any other conduct that reflects poorly on yourself or Nantucket Student Lacrosse is deemed to be unacceptable and will not be tolerated. This rule applies to all players, siblings and guests at all times when in or around games of practices as a member of Nantucket Student Lacrosse.

  • During a practice, game or tournament either at home or off-island, you represent Nantucket Student Lacrosse. Any conduct such as shoplifting or destruction of property, consumption of drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated. If you bring food or drinks you are responsible for properly disposing of all waste.

  • The Officers of Nantucket Student Lacrosse will deal with unacceptable conduct at its sole discretion, imposing warnings, suspension of expulsion as it deems appropriate. Any suspension or expulsion based on a violation of the Code of Conduct will not be accompanied by a registration refund.
