LTP is held at the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club and is free to all participants. New this year we are looking to expand the LTP to grades 3-5. Details coming soon!
Please note these are the PROPOSED practices but are subject to change based on field and coach availability. It is possible that a team (U-11, U-13, U-15) will have more kids register than is logistically feasible. Should that occur there will be evaluations for team placement. Based on current numbers the expectation is there will be two u15 teams. Evaluations will be held and players will be assigned to one of the teams. Players will practice with the team they are assigned to.
The practice schedule for each age group is as follows:
- U-11 (Grades 3 & 4)- Mondays & Tuesdays 3:15-4:45 PM and Thursdays skills 3:15-4:45 PM
- U-13 (Grades 5 & 6)- Tuesdays & Wednesday 4:45-6:15 PM and Thursdays skills 3:15-4:45 PM
- U-15 Team 1 (Grades 7 & 8)- Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 4:45-6:15 PM and Thursdays 3:15-4:45 PM

Registration for travel teams is closed.
There is a Mandatory Orientation on March 10 @ 6:30 PM for all travel participants in Grades 3-8 (kids) and their parent(s)/ guardian(s) that will be held at the Nantucket New School. At that time we will provide all the important information about the youth lacrosse program generally and then break into gender/ age groups so that you can meet your coaches and go over specific team information.
PLAYING TIME POLICY: It is the policy of NYL that each player shall have approximately an equal amount of playing time over the course of the season- all other things being equal.
So in what circumstances are unequal playing time ok? (1) In a particular game penalties, man up/ down situations may result in unequal playing time (2) during the last few minutes of a close game a coach may play certain players more than others in order to give the team the best chance of winning (3) a coach may use playing time as a motivational or disciplinary tool for violations of team rules, missing practices or games and repeated failure to follow directions or for a lack of "hustle' during a practice or game.(4) NEW- Missing practices or games to play another spring sport WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF PLAYING TIME IN SUBSEQUENT GAME(S)- this is only fair to those players that commit to attending all practices/ games and make lacrosse their primary sport. Lacrosse is a spring sport and it is expected that all players fully commit to the travel program. Missing a practice or a game due to sickness or an injury will not fall under this new guideline. If and when this occurs the coach should explain how he/ she failed to meet the coach's expectations and the impact that this will have on playing time.
Required Equipment: Lacrosse stick, goggles/ eye protection (eyewear must conform to ASTM standard F3077)
